NASTR Challenge Series

The NASTR Mandate

Nevada All-State Trail Riders is proud to offer three different series options for the horse and rider teams who wish to complete a series of events over the season in order to challenge themselves, receive additional prizes, and recognition. We invite you to test yourself and your horse(s) through Northern Nevada’s valleys, deserts, foothills, and mountains.

• NASTR 30 Hat Trick •
• NASTR 50 Trifecta •
• Triple Crown •

Entry Fees

Entry fees for each series are progressively higher the longer you wait. You must enter before the ride starts to receive that fee rate and you must enter prior to the last ride of the series to qualify for any awards.

  • $15 before first ride
  • $20 before second ride
  • $25 before third ride

Riders may sign up for all Challenge Series on the entry forms for the next relevant ride.

Completion Awards for all three Challenge Series:

  • Horse and Rider Teams (same horse and same rider): Embroidered jackets will be awarded to all horse and rider teams who complete all three rides in their chosen Challenge
  • Rider (different horses): Embroidered vests will be awarded to any rider who completes all three rides in their chosen Challenge
  • Horse (with multiple riders): for individual horses who complete:
    • Hat Trick or Trifecta: Embroidered hay bag
    • Triple Crown: Plated halter

Limited Distance Ride Series

For the horse and rider team who wish to participate on our 25 / 30 mile events.

  • Nevada Derby 25 – April 3, 2021
  • NASTR 30 – June 26, 2021
  • Red Rock Rumble 30 – October 16, 2021

In addition to the completion awards, we also recognize:

Grand Champion Rider and Horse Team (same horse)
(completing in the fastest combined-time)
Embroidered Horse Sheet

NASTR Trifecta
50-Mile Ride Series

For the horse and rider team who wish to participate on our 50 mile events.

  • Nevada Derby 50 – April 3, 2021
  • NASTR 50 – June 26, 2021
  • Red Rock Rumble 50 – October 16, 2021

In addition to the completion awards, we also recognize:

Grand Champion Rider and Horse Team (same horse)
(completing in the fastest combined-time)
Embroidered Horse Sheet/Cooler

NASTR Triple Crown
The Ultimate NASTR Challenge

(2014 marked the 30th anniversary of this award!)

NASTR awards the Triple Crown every year to riders who complete the three qualifying rides of increasing distance and difficulty.

  • Nevada Derby 50 – April 3, 2021
  • NASTR 75 – June 26, 2021
  • Virginia City 100 – September 18, 2021

Placing is based on cumulative ride time.

In addition to the completion awards, we also recognize:

  • Grand Champion Rider and horse team (same horse)
    (completing in the fastest combined-time)
    Embroidered Blanket
  • Reserve Champion Rider and horse team (same horse)
    (completing in the fastest combined-time)
    Embroidered Sheet
  • 3rd Place – Free entry to Virginia City 100
  • 4th Place – Free entry to NASTR 75
  • 5th Place – Free entry to Nevada Derby 50
  • Junior Champion Rider and horse team (same horse)
    (completing in the fastest combined-time)
    Embroidered Sheet
    (if more than one Junior, Champion rider and horse team get an embroidered blanket and Reserve Champion Junior horse and rider get an embroidered sheet).
